新华网洛杉矶7月15日电（记者郭爽）美国“新视野”号探测器近距离飞过冥王星一天后，项目团队15日公布了该探测器首次传回的部分图像。这些迄今关于冥王星及其卫星的最清晰图像，展现出不少让科学家意想不到的发现。

美国航天局副局长约翰·格伦斯菲尔德当天在一份声明中说，9年来任务团队一直在想像会看到什么，今天终于获得了“新视野”号收集的第一批“宝藏”样本，“我可以告诉你，它们大大超过人们的预期”。

图像显示，冥王星赤道附近，即此前传回图像中明亮“心形”图案的底部，有一条山脉，其最高峰海拔约3500米。科学家认为，这些山脉可能形成于1亿年前，这与太阳系45．6亿年的高龄相比，算是相当年轻了。

冥王星的卫星——冥卫一的图像则显示了一条可能由内部地质活动造成的延伸约一千公里的峭壁和山谷，图像的右侧边缘还有一条深达9千米的峡谷，冥卫一的北极则是一片深色区域。让科学家惊奇的是，冥卫一表面少有撞击坑。

此外，“新视野”号还观测到冥王星的其他4颗卫星。其中冥卫三的图像首次让专家看到这颗星球的形状。科学家估测，这颗形状不规则卫星的二维尺寸约为43千米乘以33千米。

美国“新视野”号探测器于2006年1月发射升空，在美国东部时间14日近距离飞过冥王星，成为首个探测这颗遥远矮行星的人类探测器。
